Well, 2009 came to a close in Lafayette with a lot (I mean a lot) of fireworks. The citizens must spend thousands on rockets and roman candles. Fireworks started at around 7pm and went on way after midnight.
December 6 we had a dusting of snow, then just cold and rainy.
Christmas Eve the weatherman was predicting snow flurries but stated if you blink you'll miss them.
We had Christmas Present opening on Thursday the 30th due to Mathew getting back from off shore. His 2 girls came over and we got to clebrate Christmas before 2010 came.
New Years Eve Rachel,Mathew and the 3 girls set off poppers, confetti shooters and snapers in the garage, but the girls and Mathew went to bed at around 730 and missed the Ball Fall. (Fireworks didn't even wake them).
Rachel went to Mesche's this am to get our New Years Day King Cake ( a king cake is a Louisiana Traditional cake like a donut stuffed with whatever you want (we picked Chocolate) and then iced with purple, green, red, yellow, etc. and mardi gras decorations. We ordered the small cake (said to be for aoubt 6 adults). I weighed the cake when she got home and it
was 6.2 pounds, divy that up to 3 adults and 2 small girls and thats over a pound of cake each. Oh, yes, Rachel got a dozen donuts at Mesche's because you can't smell hot donuts fresh out of the oven and smothered with hot sugary icing and walk out of the store empty handed.
Girls spent the day riding their new bikes (Christmas gifts) on the tennis courts and then went roller skating (early birthday presents). Mathew tooks the 2 oldest to the movies to see The Princess and the Frog. Eucre game tommorrow night.
Again Have a Happy New Year and be prosperous.
