The Lonnnggg H O T Summer

Sorry if it seems I took the summer off but with this heat, the pool was calling and it was all I could do to get out of the pool and come home at night.

Let's see- June , on the 25th we had our first rain in 25 days, and this after hours and hours of heat 110 or higher.

July, went to Cocoadrie, down at the end of Louisiana at the Gulf. Didnt see the gulf due to the fingers of land that are in the gulf but did see a few shrimp boats and one lonely dolphin, it was an off shore dolphin because it was big.

Drove back on a road thru the wetlands, about 20 miles of curvy road that was 2 lanes and as twisted as a drunken sailor walks. All the big trees were dead and bleached out so it was creepy but beautiful.

July 4th, went with the inlaws to a family gathering of about 50 people. We brought a Sugartown Watermelon, very very juicy and sweet, needed this in the 115 degree weather. Later we went to friends house to play Eucre ( a fun card game to learn and play).

July was hot and hotter but the pool was great.

Melissa flew down for a few days and got to visit Lafayette and take pictures of Louisiana-the swamp, the buildings and the inhabitants. She took alot of pictures of Rachel and even found time to make a belly cast of Rachels belly.

August 12, 2009 Madeline A. came into the world weighting 9.6 lbs and Rachel was in labor for about 5 hours.

The rest of August was spent spending time with the baby and being in the pool.

Labor Day- Michael and Melissa drove down and spent a week getting to bond with Madeline.

ONE thing more about the summer- Louisiana is the Pelican State but I have yet to see 1 pelican since I've been here for 5 months.

So now it is October and the pool is getting cooled down but still usable.

I hope to update this site weekly and post pictures of Lafayette, the swamp, the gulf, and of course Madeline.
